Heat One
The brand new series of the Krypton Factor got off to a flying start in the first heat, with a nail-biting finale and some impressive scores. Local Councillor Martin Golding, 39, from Bristol, was hoping to prove that politicians are not ‘all talk and no action’. He made his point very effectively with a flying start, winning the high-pressure Mental Agility round.
The audience may have been expecting particle accelerator physicist Ed Rial to be a strong contender. However, it was self-proclaimed ‘dark horse’ Pete Thompson, an Energy Consultant and keen pub-quizzer, who kept up the pressure on Martin throughout the rounds.
The General Knowledge round went right down to the wire with a tense tie-break between Pete and Martin. After snatching the victory, Martin is excited to be through to the semi-finals, while Pete clings onto the hope that he may be in line for the highest-scoring loser slot with his Krypton Factor of 30.
